The sky on fire

The highest point in Châtel-Guyon, right in the center: from up there, you overlook everything, a 360° view, with magnificent scenery. I went back several evenings in a row in August. I waited for the lights to go out, to get a beautiful, complete darkness. It was so pleasant.

I was wandering around the heights to find a unique angle, and I took my long exposures while moving down a few meters each time: tripod, self-timer, photo. Opposite me was the church. The angle wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was looking for: I wanted something with depth. And that stone bench had something special. Behind it, the faint city lights illuminated the sky in spots.

So I went down to the path that circles around at the very bottom and set up the tripod with my phone, a simple Samsung S26. A long exposure, a magnificent starry sky, and next door the neighbors were having a barbecue: people were singing, a great family atmosphere. A wonderful evening. I processed the photo on the spot in Lightroom Mobile. Photo by MrDéclenche.
